Kanawha County is gearing up for the Nov. 5 General Election. Absentee ballots are already flowing in and may be requested through Oct. 30. Early voting begins Wednesday, Oct. 23, and yesterday’s vote testing in Charleston went smoothly. Belle town council members recently approved a final mural design and discussed an increase in garbage prices and a DEP violation notice the municipality received.
The Nitro Fire Department will soon have new equipment after council members approved a $49K+ bid, but the city will only have to use $2,345 of taxpayer money for the purchase thanks to a previously approved grant.
Sissonville Middle School’s football field has been renamed the Jim Waldeck Field after Kanawha County Board of Education members approved the name during their regular session on Wednesday.
#WeCareWV Health Day clinic will be held at WV Health Right on Charleston’s East End on Saturday, Oct. 19, and local healthcare providers will offer free medical, vision and dental services to Kanawha Valley neighbors on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8 a.m.
