Now that most of us are back to work and school (expect for Kanawha County Schools students, who have today off), the week is really starting to heat up (save for the outside temperature, which is actually cooling off). Here’s what you can expect in today’s info-packed Kanawha Valley Update:

What you should know:
More school shutterings will be considered this week by Kanawha County Board of Education members, when closure hearings for Belle Elementary and Mary Ingles Elementary are held at Riverside High School in Belle.
A public voting test will be held tomorrow (Wednesday, Oct. 16) at the Voter Registration Office on Quarrier Street in Charleston, just one week ahead of early voting, which begins on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
ArtWalk’s October event is set for 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 in Charleston, bringing artists, musicians and the general public to more than 25 downtown businesses for the free monthly affair.
The West Virginia Book Festival returns Saturday in Charleston, bringing with it popular events like the Used Book Sale and Storybook Costume Parade, as well as free workshops, panels, author readings and more.
