What you should know:
Firefighters responded to Crawford Field in St. Albans Friday night, extinguishing a post-game fire that damaged the football field’s ticket booth but resulted in no injuries.
Charleston Parks and Recreation will hold a public dedication ceremony and Halloween-themed celebration at 5 p.m. tomorrow at Riverview Park, a city-owned recreational space at the site of a now-demolished school along Wertz Avenue on the city’s East End.
South Charleston Public Library Director Todd Duncan told city council members that the Fourth Avenue facility offers “a lot of things other than books,” sharing year-to-date usage statistics for the library’s program offerings, technology services and passport services, and explained that the location will soon offer TSA PreCheck services to the community.
The Oakes Field Harvest Festival is set to debut at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, bringing live entertainment, food and beer vendors, children’s activities and a large Trunk-or-Treat event to the South Charleston football field.
