It’s June 17. The West Virginia Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a public comment hearing on Appalachian Power’s (AEP) $250.5 million rate increase request beginning at 5:30 p.m. today. At least one advocacy group is planning an evening rally outside the PSC’s headquarters on Brooks Street in Charleston.

Local hospital offers new light therapy for head, neck cancer patients
A hospital in South Charleston has begun offering a new light therapy for patients with head and neck cancers. The new therapy will help prevent and treat mouth sores in patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The effort is made possible by a contribution from the Sam Femia Memorial Golf Committee, named for a local man who died in 2022 after battling cancer for nearly eight years.
