📆 PROGRAMMING NOTE: I’ll be off next week, so there’ll be no daily newsletter until I return. Instead, you’ll receive one email on Thursday, July 3, featuring the weekend calendar and obits. We’ll be back to our regular daily publishing schedule on Monday, July 7. Thank you, as always, for spending part of your day with the Update.
Now, let’s get this weekend started.
It’s a great weekend to enjoy an event and support a local cause! On Friday, try your winning hand at the St. Albans Red Dragons football’s Bingo Night fundraiser, or opt to help rescue animals at the Dream Away Cat Rescue’s BYOB Paint and Sip. Afterward, head down to Pumzi’s for the Friends-raiser Benefit Concert to help a local music venue repair its storm-damaged roof. On Saturday, admire the handiwork of 40+ craft vendors at the Bible Center School’s Summer Craft Market. In the evening, dress in your tropical best for the CAMC Foundation Summer Luau, a benefit gala for CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital. Looking for a show? Catch a screening of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” or one of the other films running at Floralee Hark Cohen Cinema, or indulge yourself in the final weekend of the Alban Arts Center’s production of “Tuck Everlasting”. And don’t forget the Hip-Hop Bash at The Empty Glass, the Natsu no Tsubasacon gathering at Coonskin Park, Pride Comedy Night at Wandering Wind Meadery, or one of several other events happening this weekend around the Kanawha Valley.
