Who’s ready for a busy autumn weekend around the Kanawha Valley? Kick things off Friday at the Homesteading-ish Conference at Bible Center Church in Charleston, or dig into barbecue at Ribfest in Marmet, which runs through Sunday. Friday evening, dance to traditional tunes at the FOOTMAD Dance at Charleston’s Kanawha United Presbyterian Church, or take in the beauty of the Monarch Butterfly Celebration & Release at Spring Hill Cemetery. If theater is more your style, choose between the Mystery Dinner Theater’s “A Veil for Murder” in South Charleston or CYAC’s debut of Charleston playwright Dan Kehde’s dark comedy “Amazon Delight” at the Elk City Playhouse.
On Saturday, browse community yard sales and flea markets in Campbells Creek and East Bank, celebrate Be My Neighbor Day at Charleston’s City Center at Slack Plaza, stop by The Peanut Shoppe’s 75th Anniversary Celebration on Capitol Street, or enjoy the Magic on Magic Island Date Night Event on Charleston’s West Side.
Finish the weekend Sunday with the Big Gay Cookout at Coonskin Park, the No Mess Puppy Paint Pawty at Fife Street Brewing, the Gospel Sing at Cheylan Church of the Nazarene, or the Open Sky Open Mic at City Center at Slack Plaza. And don’t miss the 2025 Rainbow Run at Capitol Market, Theater in the Park at Slack Plaza, the Concerts on the River season finale at Roadside Park in St. Albans, and plenty of other events happening this weekend across the region.
